Push About

We have spent much of the weekend bumping into our Push Me artists out there promoting their work and in repose, soaking up the atmosphere of this extraordinary week for disabled people everywhere. The Southbank is awash with people enjoying not only the rich feast that the Unlimited Festival has brought to the capital but the 10th Liberty Festival running concurrently.

After a busy week with acclaimed performances in the pool, Creating the Spectacle! Sue Austin and her producer Trish Wheatley could be found watching our very own Jez Colborne singing some tunes and winding a few sirens in front of a Saturday afternoon crowd outside the National Theatre.  Sue told us that her website and the Creating the Spectacle! – Online Part 1 ‘Finding Freedom’ film has attracted mass global interest with over 130,00 hits, building daily.

We were delighted to catch Push artist Claire Cunningham with Ruth Mackenzie, Artistic Director of the Cultural Olympiad on C4 Paralympic Show this morning, promoting Menage a Trois.  If you want to have a little 90 second burst of Claire, you can find her Push Me for 90 seconds film on The Space now.

And now we’re off to film more Push artists:  Rachel Gadsden, Bobby Baker and Caroline Bowditch for our documentary at Unlimited Voices talks.

Bobby and Rachel will be on the ‘Hidden or Hiding’ panel with Wendy Martin and Caroline joins Jude Kelly  and others to discuss what next: ‘Unlimited and Beyond’ and you can catch their projects on display at the Southbank throughout the Festival.
