Pushing us out…

A screen shot showing three tweets: One to John Snow asking him to watch the films in his ad break, one about Jez on top of the Royal Festival Hall and one about using audio desctiption as a creative layer.Now all 12 first films are up on The Space, the second set of 12 are starting to be uploaded, and the 30 minute documentary has all been shot,  its time to really put on the pressure and get the work seen by a wider audience.

So how are we planning to do that? We have the site here, our Facebook group, our Twitter… and we are sharing films via other sites too – for example, the Southbank Centre showed them on their festival site for Unlimited and a number of our artists have their films up on their own sites – Mind the Gap even used their’s as a live trailer for their performances at the Southbank and outside the National Theatre – great exposure!

Showing them at festivals and events is key – both large and small. They’ve been at the Brighton Digital Festival, Encounters in Bristol and formed part of the launch for the Unlimited Festival in London. this week they are at Assessing the Future of the Field: An International Convening of Thought Leaders in Theater, Dance, Disability, Education, and Inclusion in Washington DC, will shortly be heading off to Hong Kong to be part of a seminar on the representation of disability within film at the Hong Kong Film Archive and are being entered into the Picture This Film Festival in Calgary, Canada. We’ve even had a plug on Lauren Laverne’s Spacepod 5.

We’ve been pushing them at people who have an interest in disability, an interest in art and an interest in film – and the responses are great. How can you help us push them out there?

My favourite sneaky push so far was during the channel four ad breaks… yup, lots of online pushing towards the people complaining about the breaks – why not want a few 90 second films instead?
